Terms of Service
: Last updated 1 November 2026These terms are a legal agreement between you and the operator of Boffin. Please read them before using the Services. By creating an account or using Boffin, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Who we are
Boffin is run by Rideone Nahian Islam, an individual based in London, United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). We operate the website https://www.boffin.work and related tools such as checklists, whiteboards, timers and a journal (the “Services”).
Email: contact@boffin.work
2. Who can use Boffin
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may only use Boffin with the permission of a parent or guardian, who should read these terms with you. By using the Services you confirm that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these terms.
3. Your account
You may need to register to use some features. You agree to give accurate information, keep your password confidential, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may ask you to change a username that is offensive or misleading.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you create in Boffin, including journal entries, checklists, whiteboards and timers (“Your Content”). We do not claim ownership of it.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process and display Your Content only as needed to run, secure and support the Services for you. We do not use Your Content for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not publish it. Your Content is private to your account unless a feature clearly lets you share it.
You are responsible for Your Content. You confirm that you have the right to store it and that it does not break the law or anyone else’s rights.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Services for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten, defraud or harm others;
- upload content that is illegal, infringes someone else’s rights, or includes viruses or malicious code;
- try to access another user’s account or data, or to break, probe or bypass our security or access controls;
- interfere with or place an unreasonable load on the Services, including through bots, scrapers or other automated means, except as normal browser use;
- copy, reverse engineer or resell the Services, except where the law allows; or
- use the Services to impersonate any person or to mislead others about who you are.
If you break these rules, we may remove content, suspend or close your account, and, where appropriate, report you to the authorities.
6. Our intellectual property
The Services, including the software, design, text, graphics, name and logo, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Services for your own personal or study purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Services without obligation to you. This does not give us any rights over Your Content.
7. Free service and changes
Boffin is currently free to use. We may change, add or remove features, or introduce paid features in future. If we introduce charges for something you already use, we will tell you in advance and you will not be charged unless you agree. Any paid plan will have its own terms, including refund rights required by law.
8. Availability and your data
We aim to keep Boffin available and your content safe, and we take regular backups, but we cannot promise the Services will always be uninterrupted or error free. We may need to carry out maintenance or may be affected by problems outside our control.
We recommend that you keep your own copy of anything important. If you would like a copy of Your Content, email contact@boffin.work.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
10. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all your legal rights, including that services are provided with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to that, and because Boffin is provided free of charge:
- the Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, and we do not promise that they will meet your particular needs;
- we are not responsible for losses that were not a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach of these terms, or for business losses (for example lost profit), because the Services are for personal use; and
- our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the greater of GBP 100 and the amount, if any, you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Suspension and ending your account
You can stop using Boffin and delete your account at any time by emailing contact@boffin.work. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or if we stop providing the Services. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export Your Content first. When your account closes, we handle your information as set out in our Privacy Policy.
Sections that by their nature should continue after your account ends (such as sections 6 and 10 to 13) will continue to apply.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to the Services or the law. We will change the “Last updated” date and, if the changes are significant, give you reasonable notice by email or on the Services before they take effect. If you continue to use Boffin after the changes take effect, you agree to the updated terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Services and delete your account.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms and any dispute connected to them are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in England and Wales, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim in the courts of your home country. If you live elsewhere and are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
If you have a problem, please contact us first at contact@boffin.work. We will try to resolve it informally and promptly.
14. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services. If a part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else without our consent. We may transfer ours to another person or business that takes over the Services, as long as your rights are not reduced. No one other than you and us has rights to enforce these terms.
